Ramsey Disappointed to See British Players Leave Arsenal

Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey claims that he is disappointed with losing midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool.

The England international decided to secure a £ 40 million move to Liverpool on transfer deadline day. He had been linked with a move away from the gunners for much of the transfer window. Yet, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had been trying to persuade him to sign a new deal with the club. At the end of the day, Arsenal had no option but to sell him for a substantial transfer figure, as he had only 12 months left on his contract. There was the huge risk of losing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on a free.

As of now, Arsenal will be feeling relatively happy with the sale, as it meant that the club has received a £ 5 million more than Chelsea’s offer. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were subjected to interest from Chelsea and Liverpool, but the blues were the 1st to make an official bid. After being given permission to speak with Antonio Conte’s team, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain made the decision to switch to Anfield. Wenger does not want anyone to become the Sporting Director in Arsenal

Recently, there have been rumors emerging involving Arsenal and the potential of them appointing someone with the task of being the Sporting Director.

Former Arsenal player Marc Overmars and former Borussia Dortmund player Michael Zorc were linked with this position.

Arsenal was once again left behind in the Premier League race and they were completely destroyed in the 2016-17 season of the Champions League after losing to Bayern Munich with an aggregate scoreboard of 10-2 in the round of 16.

Arsene Wenger’s squad was also knocked out of the League Cup after losing to Southampton in the quarter-finals.

It’s because of all these eliminations from competitions and the continuous failure from Arsenal of actually lifting a major piece of silverware that the rumors involving the possibility of the Premier League club appointing someone as a Sporting Director started to emerge but Arsene Wenger has emerged and shut down those rumors.

“I’m the manager of Arsenal Football Club and as long as I’m manager of Arsenal Football Club, I will decide what happens on the technical front, that’s it. I don’t know what director of football means. Is it somebody who stands in the road and directs play right and left? I don’t understand and I never did understand what it means.” Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger said. Continue reading “Wenger does not want anyone to become the Sporting Director in Arsenal”

Wenger should leave according to Arteta

Former Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta believes that it is high time that Arsene Wenger leaves the London club.

He believes that the club needs a change in management style if they want to progress and he fears that if the French manager stay any longer, the club could begin to implode.

The Spanish midfielder who is now working at Manchester City said that Wenger is a good manager but it is time for a change at Arsenal. He believes that the players are not playing for the manager and that he feels that the club is not progressing.

He believes that the club had a genuine chance of winning the title last season but unfortunately they could not capitalize on the poor form of their rivals. He said that this allowed Leicester City to win the title quite easily.

Mikel Arteta believes that there are some good managers that might be interested in taking charge of a club such as Arsenal. He said that the club already has a good squad and that they also have a loyal fan base. Continue reading “Wenger should leave according to Arteta”

After having had a total appearance in 259 matches playing for the Gunners and Everton, the 34-year old footballer has decided to retire from his professional football career.

Upon announcing his retirement, it seems apparent that Arterta is not quitting the sport for good; rather he seems to be transitioning from player to coach. Arsenal skipper Per Mertesacker has revealed that his priority is getting a new deal from his employers.

He disclosed that his immediate dream is to remain in England with Arsenal. This comes amid speculation that the player might return to Germany. The 32-year old player is in the last year of his Arsenal deal but has not featured for the London-based outfit this summer since his injury this summer. With the additions in the squad, he would find it difficult getting a starting role again despite being the captain.

“A new Arsenal contract has absolute priority for me. But no dates have been set [for talks]. Arsenal has the highest priority for me. Everything else is pure speculation, and I won’t join the discussion,” Mertesacker told Spox.

Shkodran Mustafi has partnered well with Laurent Koscielny since his arrival at the Emirates. The stability the team is enjoying might not be usurped when the German returns. This makes it difficult for the club to consider giving the player a new deal. Hannover and Werder Bremen are the leading sides chasing Mertesacker for his signature, but the player says he wants to stay put at Arsenal. Coach Pep Guardiola says he has phased out the idea of getting a defender this summer after seeing the performance of Aleksander Kolarov.

Guardiola is one of the favourites to lift the English Premier League title this season with Manchester City so it is expected that he leaves no stone unturned in a bid to reach his expectations. The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager admitted that he consulted with his assistants Rodolfo Borrell and Mikel Arteta before deciding to allow Kolarov in the role.

“I’m delighted I spoke to Mikel and Rodolfo and said “do you think he is able to play in that position?” Guardiola said of Kolarov. “It is not easy to find a centre back with a left foot like him. We are convinced he has the quality to do that, to adjust,” he added.

Kolarov did a decent job when City sealed their Champions League participation with the defeat of Steaua Bucharest. He has been decent in the Premier League games so far, so he is set to remain at the Etihad despite rumours that he would be among the first players to exit when Guardiola’s move broke out.

Arsenal player, Mikel Arteta is set to leave the club as the season ends.

The player would join Tomas Rosicky and Mathieu Flamini. Arsene Wenger, head coach of the club said Arsenal “will lose three big personalities” when the players exit the club this summer. Wenger paid tribute to the trio of midfielders at his news conference on Friday as all three are out of contract after the season ends following Sunday’s home game against Aston Villa.

Only Flamini has been a regular player this season, with Rosicky making only one appearance because of injury troubles. Arteta, the club captain, has also struggled with injuries and was often left out of the squad even when fit.

Wenger said:

“Arteta has been a great leader. All these players will have to decide if they go on with their career as a football player or as a coach.

“Tomas Rosicky has been with us for 10 years, I think everybody loves him as well. Flamini has been an extremely strong leader as well on the pitch and off the pitch. We lose three big personalities.” Continue reading “MIKEL ARTETA TO EXIT ARSENAL AS THE SEASON ENDS”

Arsenal FC Manager, Arsene Wenger has expressed his disappointment in Theo Walcott.

The Frenchman says the forward is not living up to expectations at the club. He says he still believes the Englishman will prove himself. Wenger has been under pressure to sell the player this summer and look for more prolific attacking option upfront.

Arsenal are in third place in the English premier League. They have lost out in other competitions this season. Barcelona knocked them out in the UEFA Champions League recently. They are out of the FA cup and Manchester City has lifted the League cup already.

When asked to comment on Walcott’s performance this season, Wenger said: “Not as well as you could have expected. He has had good periods in the season.”

He added: “I think recently he has gone through a much more difficult period. But he will come back. He works very hard; he puts the effort in training. At the moment, for him and Giroud it’s a bit more difficult, but that’s part of the competition.”

The petite but pacy winger marks a decade since arriving at the London-based outfit. He joined from Southampton as a 16-year-old rising star. The Gunners star is the longest serving player in the team. In the attack, he has fallen behind Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud and quite recently, rising sensation Alex Iwobi.

Despite starting the season as the first-choice centre-forward, Walcott has been sitting on the bench more of late. He is even in danger of being left out of the English Euro 2016 squad due to the numerous striking options Coach Roy Hodgson has. Hodgson has stated clearly that the striker would need to get a starting shirt to be considered for the regional tournament. Continue reading “WENGER: THEO WALCOTT PERMING BELOW EXPECTATIONS”
