In the opening match of the season of the Serie A, there were a number of unexpected results which occurred. Juventus lost against Udinese, Ac.Milan was defeated after competing against Fiorentina, Napoli sustained a defeat after locking horns with Sassuolo and As.Roma could only muster a 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona.
A lot of the big teams in Italy dropped unexpected points early in the season but Inter Milan managed to clinch a triumph as they overcame Atalanta with a final scoreboard of 1-0.
Roberto Mancini did not hesitate in revealing his joy after seeing his team start of the season in a positive form as they collected all 3 points and the Italian manager said: “Apart from the initial ten-minute settling-in period, we played well and deserved the win. It wasn’t easy because Atalanta is a well-organized team that defends well with all their men in their own half. I’m happy for Jovetic and for all the lads. I was impressed by my players’ attitude, their desire not to give anything away and the belief they showed right until the end’’
Stefan Jovetic is a summer signing of Inter Milan as the Italian club signed Jovetic on July 31 on a loan deal which will last for 18 months and it was this recent arrival who managed to score the only goal of the entire match.
Inter Milan completely dominated the match from start till the end as the home team enjoyed having 68% of possession and launched 21 shots against the opposition while Atalanta could only muster 5 shots and none of those shots were on target which is a huge difference compared to Inter Milan which managed to fire 7 shots on target.
Mancini is hoping that his team can continue their domination and continue adding points until eventually becoming the new champions of Italy but this is only the start of the season and the game has only just started.
